Summer 1960: Sandy Greenberg is home from college, working at his father’s junkyard and pitching in a summer-league baseball game, when his life begins to change forever. Suddenly, a heavy mist seems to rise off the ground. Shapes waver. When Sandy’s next pitch sails behind the batter’s head, he stumbles off the mound and collapses on the field. Thus begins his six-month descent into total blindness — and a still continuing journey defined by friendship, love, unstoppable determination, and amazing accomplishments.

The moral of Sandy Greenberg’s life is simple: Never give up … and always care about something far bigger than yourself.
